Superstitious.......

Of course as soon as wrote the title the song popped in my head and I immediately flash to the opening scene of I'm Robot.  Who doesn't love a wet Will Smith.  Any way I digress!  Do you and your family have superstitous especially for the New Year?  I remember growing up with so many and I still carry them with me to this day.            Don't sweep anyone feet or they will go to jail, Don't buy your spouse a watch because time will run out.  Don't buy shoes or they will run away.  Don't walk under ladders.  Don't break the mirror or you will have seven years bad luck.  There were just so many.  Are there any superstitions that you grow up with? I found this article that I thought you might be interested in to help bring in the New Year.  http://www.businessinsider.com/new-years-eve-superstitions-that-might-bring-you-good-luck-2016-12 Feel Free to comment and share with your friends! Thoughts From My Rooftop: S?< they sell!

Have you ever looked at the S@#$ they sell at Christmas?  I'm convinced they only do it because they know its the only time they can get away with it.  I saw a box of graham cracker crumbs! I mean really a legit book for crumbs.  Are we that lazy we can't even buy the whole ones and crush them up our selves?  Or really throw them in a Ziploc bag and let one of the kids go to work.  Or better yet take all your frustrations out on beating the living crap out of the bag! But really who thinks of that and better yet who buys it?  That's all I just needed to drop a like and ask a question because it was really bugging me. Thoughts from My Rooftop: To Spanx or Not to Spanx

The mister was taking me to a fancy place for my birthday were they had a dress code and everything.  So, of course, all the dresses I already had weren't good enough so naturally, I had to buy a new one. After trying it on I felt it looked OK but with my spanks on it would look just a little better.                 So after I showered I came and sat on the bed waiting for my husband to go off and get ready. It's not that he wouldn't know they were there I just didn't need him watching while I completed the difficult task of putting them on.  Now I swear its s whole work out. I'm pushing and pulling and stretching trying to get them up and I'm breaking a sweat trying to move fast but like everyone knows they inch up so damn slowly.  I even considered calling in reinforcements just to get them up over my hips and thighs but the embarrassment kept that away.  I considered running to get lotion or oil to make it easier but who am I kidding. These things w

Thoughts From My Rooftop: My Teapot Broke!

Image
About six months ago I had surgery and I was unable to go up and down the stairs.  Since my room was upstairs and so was my bed that's where I spent most of my time.  I wanted to be able to still do some simple things for myself so I purchased an electric teapot, This one to be exact!  Ovente Tea Pot . For the first few weeks it was perfect. Then I noticed small things like the black casing coming off in the boiling water.  Then a few months in the lid broke off then a short time after that the whole side pulled away from the bottom.  I was pissed because I really loved it.  So to save you time patience and frustration pick a better one than I did!  Do you have an electric teapot which one should I get this time!

Sweetest Day

Sweetest Day Date When Celebrated:  Third Saturday in October Now here is a day dedicated just for your sweetie. It exists as an opportunity for you to recognize that sweet and special someone. It doesn’t matter who that person is, or what their relation to you. They just have to be "sweet" in order to get a little recognition. Herbert Birch Kingston, a Cleveland, Ohio philanthropist and candy company employee started Sweetest Day. He wanted to bring happiness to orphans, shut-ins and under-privileged. His intent was to show these people that they were not forgotten.  In 1922, he started this holiday by giving candy and small gifts. He often used movie stars to distribute the gifts. The popularity of this holiday quickly spread. Today,  it is celebrated with loved ones and friends. However, we encourage you to follow the intent of the original holiday, and find ways to give candy and small gifts to those in need. Feel Free to comment and share with your friend

Thoughts From My Rooftop: Sunday Night Football

Image
Are you a sports fan? Do you find yourself watching and screaming at the tv like by some stretch of the imagination they can hear you? You know it's like the yelling you do when your watching a lifetime movie.  This is where I found myself Sunday night while watching The Cleveland Browns play the Oakland Raiders. I was yelling, cussing, screaming and throwing pillows like I was watching the damn Superbowl. I mean I had to catch myself when I was just about to say the Hail Mary in my head and I'm not even Catholic.  Then It's like I was having flash backs from my old grade school. I mean seriously I was close to crossing myself. I'm not either a Cleveland or Oakland can but I was into this game like it was my son's out there playing. The whole game was back and forth i swear I needed a drink when the game went into Overtime. Are you kidding me i have to sit thru more of this angst! I had it. I needed to throw in the towel but I didn't I watched as the Br

National Boyfriend Day

National Boyfriend Day is a day that is commemorated on October 3rd every year and is an unofficial holiday in which women can spend the day showing their boyfriends the love and appreciation they desire. It is one half of the set of significant other holidays-the other one being Girlfriends Day-a day in which girlfriends are celebrated on August 1st. When is National Boyfriend Day? This year (2017) October 3  (Tuesday) Next year (2018) October 3  (Wednesday) Last year (2016) October 3  (Monday) History After doing extensive research, I can find no proof of this holiday being created or it being celebrated in any way whatsoever. As such, it may be an Internet myth but since it has been mentioned on several reputable websites, I think it’s safe to say it is one that is going to grow in popularity over time. Customs, Traditions and Celebrations Since little is known about this holiday or its origin, it’s really hard to pin down ways people might practice it. However,

National Coffee Day

According to legend, it was discovered on the Ethiopian highlands by a goat herder who discovered the the fruit of the coffee plant had a stimulating effect on his goats. So he decided to experiment with them a little bit and viola-coffee was born! He shared his findings with the local monastery and before long, everyone was making a drink from the coffee plant. Coffee quickly spread across the Arabian Peninsula and by the sixteenth century was p

Autumnal Equinox Day

Image
Autumnal Equinox Day When  September 23, 2018; September 23, 2019; September, 22, 2020 The Autumn equinox signals the beginning of Fall. It is the point where there is exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness at the equator. If you live anywhere else, however, you will see a little bit more or a little bit less than 12 hours of daylight. The daylight hours are dwindling and will continue to do so until we reach the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year and the start of winter. In ancient times, the Autumn Equinox was cause for a variety of pagan festivals, among them the celebration of the birth of Mabon, the son of Mordon, the Goddess of the earth. It is also a time to celebrate with a variety of Fall and Harvest Festivals. People enjoy fall festivals as they sense the closure of a great summer season and the coming of a long winter. The fall festivals are the last of the outdoor events until spring. Just getting there is half the fun as you drive t

Thoughts From My Rooftop: Not Really

Image
I'm not on the rooftop today. I'm on the bus riding to class.  Yes, I could drive but its free and it frees up the car for the Mister when he's off work. Not that I needed to explain things. But anyway I'm people watching and I see all kinds of people. Fat, small, ladies, men, boys and girls. Some of them just like me people watching forming stories in their heads and some also like be oblivious to everyone and everything around them. Is it because we don't want strangers talking to us or we simply aren't thinking jus using the time to get our thoughts in order. I'm a people person I need human contact but I don't go out of my way either. Its something I never thought about until this moment. I smile say hi but nothing more. I wonder is it something I should work on or should I stick to the line of not talking to strangers. What would you do?
