Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday  is an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after  US Thanksgiving  during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. First observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, it is a counterpart to  Black Friday and  Cyber Monday , which feature  big box retail  and  e-commerce  stores respectively. By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize  brick and mortar  businesses that are  small  and  local .  Small Business Saturday  is a registered trademark of American Express corporation. The first event was sponsored by American Express, in partnership with the non-profit  National Trust for Historic Preservation , Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, and Roslindale Village Main Street. Jimi Hendrix  died at  27 years old Born:  November 27 ,  1942 Died:  September 18 ,  1970  ( drug overdose ) Birthplace:  Seattle ,  Washington ,  United States Best known as:  Performer of "Purple Haze" Name at birth:  Johnny Allen Hendrix Jimi Hendrix grabbed electric guitar by the neck and wrestled it into a new era. His feedback-heavy solos and hallucinogenic tunes helped define the psychedelic 1960s. With his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience he recorded the albums  Are You Experienced?  (1967),  Axis: Bold as Love  (also 1967), and  Electric Ladyland  (1968, including Hendrix’s version of  Bob Dylan ‘s tune “All Along the Watchtower”). The single “Purple Haze” from  Are You Experienced  remains one of rock’s touchstone classics. The band broke up in 1969 but Hendrix remained a star, playing later that year at the Woodstock music festival. 2020 is trash!

I know I'm not the only one feeling that way tonight! How much more can we take?  It's official it just sucks! When will it end already? And no I'm not talking about the year it's the sadness, the loss, the depression.  I know people die. That's just a part of life but this damn year has me standing here doing my best Florida Evan's impersonation screaming "Damn, Damn, Damn" as I break my best bowl! Kobe's death knocked me on my ass! I cried every time somebody said his name. Then I felt bad because it's not like I knew him right. Then family members and close family friends. Then we have that bitch Rona. Listening to the stories and the suffering and people dying alone. Is this a test God cause I can tell you now I'm definitely not coming out of this one okay. Then today Chadwick Boseman and no I didn't know him either but I feel it. Somebody else gone way to soon.  Then we have the police, the killings, watching people that look like

Juneteenth Day

Juneteenth Day Date When Celebrated:  Always on June 19 th Juneteenth day celebrates and symbolizes the end of slavery in the United States. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862. It was not until June 19, 1865 that all slaves were finally freed. That concluding event was when General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas with his troops and issued Order Number 3 which finally freed the last of the slaves. International Sushi Day When : Always June 18 Something's fishy. That's because today is International Sushi Day. Sushi was created in Japan.It is a well known type of Japanese cuisine, but often isunderstood. Most of us think of sushi as a finger food containing raw fish. It certainly is a finger food. Look Alike Day Date When Celebrated :  Always April 20 Oh Boy! It's Look Alike Day. Time to look like somebody else.....copycat. Today's a day to find someone you really look up to, and try to look like them. Start with the hair. Cut and style your hair, as needed,  to look like the person you've selected to look like. Then, select items from your wardrobe (or buy some new clothes!) that your lookalike wears. Along the way, make sure to practice and copy their walk, their talk, and their facial expressions.
