Conversations with my Son: Ugggg Boys!

I don't know if it’s all little boys or if I'm just the lucky one in the bunch but my sons have had smells that can go in the record books and getting them to take baths sometimes is like an act of God. Me: Oh My God what is that horrible smell? I say one day as my sons are getting in the car.           And of course no one answers. Me: Hello? Am I talking to myself here? Sons: I don't know Me: Did you all put on deodorant today? Son: Yes, they all say! Me: and you know I'm thinking somebody is lying right When ya'll get home the first thing you need to do it take a bath! Son: We can't eat first? Me: No!  So of course we get home and they all go upstairs and I hear the water go on so I think nothing of it until a little while later I go up and check on the youngest one and he is one the floor in his room sleep smelling like something has died on the floor.  And my question is how can you sleep smelling like that? Working Parents Day

Date When Celebrated :  Always September 16th Working Parents Day  gives recognition to moms and dads who work hard to provide for their children. Every day dad, and often mom, go off to work. They work hard to earn money to make ends meet. They work hard to be able to afford the extras that kids want and need. This includes things like school trips, funding the proms, athletics, music, dance classes, clubs, and much, much more. Today is a chance for the kids to show a little appreciation. We suggest doing the dishes, cleaning up, and overall doing extra chores around the house. If you are old enough, make dinner for the folks. Important Note:  This day speaks to "working parents" we believe that "stay at home moms" fit this classification. They just might work harder than anyone. Origin of Working Parents Day: We found no factual information about this special day. Most likely it originated from a child, or a group of children, who wanted t

Conversations with my Mother: He said he wanted to go to higher places!

In ninth grade on Valentine's Day my boyfriend decided that he would tell me at school that he would be breaking up with me and I remember thinking at the time that I would never get over such terrible pain.          When I got home from school I call my mama and I couldn't even stop crying as I told her what was my most heartbreaking story to date. Me: Mama! Mama: What's wrong? Me: He broke up with me? Mama: What? Why? What happened? Me:  We were standing at his locker and he have me this old dirty looking yellow bear and some dead flowers and he said that he went to church last night and he prayed and God told him if we wanted to go to higher places that he had to do it alone. Mama:  I hadn't even finished telling the story before she busted out laughing. What the hell kinda higher places is he going to? Me: I don't know. Mama: and why was the bear dirty? Me: sniffing I don't know but he had a pretty red and white one in his locker

This Day in History

The Sewing Machine is patented. (1846) Sewing Machine Day  celebrates a very important invention ----- the sewing machine. The first sewing machines were made in France in the 1830s. It wasn't until 1846, that they were patented in the U.S. What a great invention. Prior to it's creation, clothes items were sewn together by hand...stitch by stitch. People who know how to use a sewing machine are dwindling in number. Our mothers and grandmothers had a sewing machine in the house. They used it, too. But, look around your house. Do you have a sewing machine? Chance are, the answers is no. If you have a sewing machine, enjoy today making things with it. If not, consider picking up sewing as a hobby.  Today's Saying:  "A stitch in time saves nine."  Interpretation: Saves nine what, you ask. Well, stitches of course. One stitch made right away, prevents further breakage and will not require nine more stitches later. Feel Free to comment and share with y
