National Coffee Day

        National Coffee Day, also known as Coffee Day or International Coffee Day, is a holiday that celebrates this hot beverage and the joy it brings to people all over the world. On this day, people not only take the time to enjoy their favorite brand of coffee, but also many different types of businesses offer discounted or free cups of coffee to their customers. It is celebrated on September 29th all over the world.  History        While not much is known about the origin of this holiday, the history of coffee is a lot easier to determine. According to legend, it was discovered on the Ethiopian highlands by a goat herder who discovered the the fruit of the coffee plant had a stimulating effect on his goats. So he decided to experiment with them a little bit and viola-coffee was born! He shared his findings with the local monastery and before long, everyone was making a drink from the coffee plant. Date When Celebrated : September 25 National Comic Book Day is a super cool day. Share a comic book with a friend today. We don't know of anyone who doesn't like a good comic book. Comic books are great reading. They either tell an ongoing story, provide humor, or offer intrigue and suspense. In all comic books, good eventually prevails over evil. Business Women's Day

Date When Celebrated : September 22 Business Women's Day recognizes the value and contribution of women in the business world. The roots of this special day go back to the late 1940s. While men were off fighting World War II, women filled the void in the workforce. The returning soldiers found the women eager to have their men return. But, many women were not anxious to return to traditional roles in the home. Since this time, women's role and contributions in the workforce have grown and evolved. Bufton Jr. and three Kansas City business women founded the American Business Women's Association(ABWA) on September 22, 1949. The first Business Women's Day was celebrated in 1982. It is the point where there is exactly 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness at the equator. American Legion Day

Date When Celebrated :  Always September 16 th The American Legion was granted its federal charter by Congress on this day in 1919. It was established to support and assist veterans returning from World War I. Since then it has grown and supported veterans of all wars, and veterans of peacetime as well. The American Legion currently has over 3 million member veterans, at more than 14,000 posts worldwide. They provide a social community and mutual aid to all members. National Peanut Day

Date When Celebrated :  September 13 th National Peanut Day  is the peanuttiest of days. Native to South America, the locals there couldn't keep this great nut to themselves. Actually, peanuts are not nuts. They are "legumes", like peas, beans, and lentils. Peanuts are one of America's favorite snack foods. And, its more than a snack food. Peanuts are the main ingredient in peanut butter. Peanuts star in a variety of recipes, and is a topping for countless foods and desserts. Many Chinese recipes use peanuts in main menu items.    Peanuts once took the rap as a not so healthy food. More recent research suggests that peanuts can reduce cardiovascular disease and lowers triglycerides in the body. Peanuts are high in protein and fiber, and are now believed to help curb hunger, and therefore help in diet control.
