In this day of computers, more and more information, notes, and letters are sent back and forth via a keyboard and cyberspace. According to the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) website "The purpose of National Handwriting Day is to alert the public to the importance of handwriting. According to WIMA, National Handwriting Day is a chance for all of us to re-explore the purity and power of handwriting." Some of the available documentation we read, suggests concern by stationary, paper companies, and pen and pencil manufacturers that the electronic world will shrink demand for their products. Remember this date November 6, 2018. That's the date on which 33 senate seats, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and 14 governorship's will be up for re-election. Put it on your calendar now and be prepared to be an informed voter. If you are worried, concerned, angry, disappointed about the direction the government is going this is the most effective way to make a change, stop complaining and start planning. Remember the president is only one cog in the government machine, and you can make effective change through voting for your local and state representatives, this is the check that can balance this situation.  Pass it on….

Use today to savor and enjoy any of the hundreds of varieties of cheese. There certainly is no shortage of varieties. Depending upon what article you read, there is between 900 - 1,400 varieties of cheese, all classified by texture. It's easy to celebrate this special day. Set out a tray of several varieties of  your favorite cheese and dig in. Having a cheese tasting party with your friends, will make this day a truly memorable one.  And, don't forget the wine. Date When Celebrated:  Always January 18 Thesaurus Day celebrates the birthday of the author of  Roget's Thesaurus . Peter Roget was born on this day in 1779. The Thesaurus has been an invaluable reference book for hundreds of years. Students and writers use it to improve the quality of their literary work. Do you remember how the book works? After High School, many of us forget. If you have forgotten, you're in good company. The Thesaurus lists synonyms (words with the same or similar meaning) for words. It allows you to avoid repetition in writing and speeches.  It also lists antonyms...words with opposite meaning. Enjoy today appreciating the value of the Thesaurus.
